inspiring words surround Kathleen’s studio walls at the Maya Muse
Gallery in Nehalem, Oregon. Each day the words serve as a reminder
of her choices to pursue and live her life’s dreams. With
a tenacity of spirit, she continues to study, draw and paint.
The artist was born in McMinnville,
Oregon and raised in the Pacific Northwest where she makes her home with
her husband and family. She often uses her family and friends for
inspiration in her work. With a personal story behind each piece
of artwork, Kathleen paints with the rhythm and brushwork that come from
deep within her soul.
Watercolor and oil are the artist’s
preferred medium used in her work. The web site Galleries display some
of her paintings of the landscape, still life and figure. The Portrait
Gallery reflects how she is inspired by the simple acts of love that women
portray in their everyday life. “My life’s work gives
me the opportunity to explore and paint the energy and spirit of love,
serenity and joy. When I enter my studio each day, my spirit is uplifted
and my life is enriched beyond measure.”
The Cobblestone Gallery in Seattle,
Washington, June 2000 art review in the Art Access magazine stated:
“She gives rich and soothing warmth to her oil paintings with glowing
colors and bold strokes.”
Kathleen Stupfel Hickey has exhibited
her paintings both locally and nationally and has won numerous awards.
Her paintings are in private collections in New York, Connecticut, Illinois,
Montana, California, Oregon and Washington, as well as corporate collections
